Eric's Search Engine Optimization 101

Today I went to Eric's SEO 101 presentation at the North Aurora Public Library.  Here are some of my notes and thoughts according to my world."Search Engines don't want people to optimize"...  Just like any business, they want to be able to access and index your site and then use their own methodology to rank search results for THEIR customers or audience."Increasing your "organic ranking" is the best way to improve your ranking. " Absolutely, this is what Eric focused on and I wholeheartedly agree!  The process of increasing your ranking is time consuming, expensive, and temporary... DO NOT spend too much money to get this done by the "SEO Professional".Content is KING!

• make it UNIQUE and SPECIFIC content to your site
• Use Site Maps
• Make titles human readable

So what did this confirm for me?

• Spend your time on content
• Setup tools in the front end to grow your site index, both on your site, and on various search engines
• KNOW your Audience!  As you decide what content and navigation to use on your site, consider how your audience might find your site relative to your products and services
