Getting Started With Drupal

Kurt Cagle posted a great entry on his blog on O'Reilly titled "Getting Started With Drupal". I've not read the entire thing yet, but it looks to be incredibly comprehensive and his advice seems to be in line with some of the stuff Bob has presented in his previous Drupal presentations.

BitNami, Twuffer and AddThis

Just some bits and pieces I've come across this week.

Twuffer

Twuffer is a Twitter buffer. Say that 5 times fast! Twuffer allows the Twitter user to compose a list of future tweets, and schedule their release. Good for post dated scheduled content.

Check your site against multiple browsers on multiple platforms... for free!

There have been plenty of fee-based browser preview sites, but I recently came across a free one that works better than most any other I've tested.

Magento and Swift Mailer

Typically on Fridays, when I have time, I try to do a bit of online research and perusal to see what's new out there in Web/PHP land. I discovered two new (well, to me anyhow) items that I found interesting.

Drupal Content Management System

One of the most popular open source projects, Drupal is an excellent application framework and content management system.

What's new with Joomla (aka Mambo) Overview

Joomla is a popular content management system rising out of turmoil in the Mambo community and an Open Source land grab by the original sponsor. Not to be denied, the Open Source community revolted and forked into Joomla.Chris will show us around the Joomla Project with a hands on site building demonstration and overview. There are lots of community support and resources around Joomla, and many extensions. If we have time we might talk over some differences between Joomla and Drupal and maybe go into something deeper with Drupal as well.
